Na conferência que serviu para apelar aos fies a paz e unidade entre irmãos, bem como a participação em massa no evento a ser realizado de 12 a 14 de Janeiro de 2024, o Bispo Alberto Segunda garantiu que todo o acto está a ser feito na legalidade, mediante acordo conciliatório entre o Estado angolano e as duas alas existente actualmente.
“ Graças a pronta intervenção do Estado angolano para a resolução do conflito existente, eu e o Valente Bizerra fomos chamados à justiça e colocados a questão de como teríamos que resolver o problema da Igreja Universal do Reino de Deus, onde assinamos um acordo com vários pontos e um dos pontos que considero principal foi a realização de uma Assembleia-geral para se eleger o líder” disse o Bispo Alberto Segunda.
Segundo Alberto Segunda da Costa, o comunicado de insatisfação da outra ala não representa os mais de 500 mil membros da IURD, disse tratar-se de um grupo ínfimo que não se revêm na assembleia e que ainda assim nada irá dificultar o evento, uma vez que há a participação de membros de toda a parte de Angola, avançando que muitos dos que haviam se afastados e voltaram já estão todos cadastrados para o evento.
De acordo com o Bispo Segunda, com base no cumprimento do dito “acordo conciliatório” do Estado angolano, que determinou o prazo de 3 meses para a resolução do problema entre as alas, convocou o Bispo Valente Bizerra Luís a participar de uma reunião de concertação para juntos tratarem todos os pressupostos para a assembleia, porém não teve sucesso.
“ Enviamos o convite e eles não quiseram receber e nós não podemos ficar refém de quem não quer receber o convite e nós temos problemas inerentes à questão de legitimidade e de liderança, precisávamos avançar com esta assembleia dentro do prazo que o Estado determinou. As candidaturas estavam abertas, todos tiveram a oportunidade de o fazer para se inscrever e, como não se inscreveram, estamos a avançar com a lista única e temos a certeza de que teremos uma IURD mais forte”, garantiu o Bispo à imprensa.
